Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Self-Defense Against a Knife: Tips & Tactics From an Expert

I've been in a few situations that involved knives. One time, it was I who brought the knife to a gunfight. I got inside the guy's reach and had the Buck 110 blade stuck against his gut before he decided I wasn't interesting to him. That was in Paris, in the flea market and he had a gold-plated .25 auto. He was also a big African in robes and all. I never did forgive my buddy for beating feet and leaving me there by myself. It was just a crazy n1gger who wanted to try and scare a couple white guys. He scared one and pissed off the other one. That .25 is probably still at the bottom of the Seine.

This article appeared originally as "Blade Runner" in the January 2017 issue of Shooting Illustrated.

In recent years, curbside stabbings in Jerusalem, slashings in New York and an edged-weapon assault injuring eight at a shopping mall in Minnesota are clear examples of a disturbing trend of knife attacks against civilians. Although we may all be potential victims of physical violence, few of us are fully equipped to handle such assaults.

Being prepared for a knife attack is 50 percent physical and 50 percent psychological. Most human beings fear the unknown, and that is especially true of a knife attack. Because we are unfamiliar with the mechanics of a knife attack, it makes us feel uncomfortable and squeamish. It’s up-close. It’s personal. And it could potentially end in loss of blood, limb or life.

The problem with most knife attacks in reality is that you don’t see the knife until it is too late. Generally speaking, if the bad guy flashes the knife at distance, it is with the intent to scare you into doing what he wants; handing over your money or whatever. In such instances, it is unlikely that you will be stabbed as long as you act correctly. Be that defensively or not, depending on the situation.

If the bad guys main intent is stabbing you for whatever reason, then they will usually conceal the knife, for example by holding their hand down by their side and slightly to the rear so you can’t see what they are holding, and appear to not be a threat until they are so close that it is too late...

A guy threatened to shoot me with a

pistol that was laying beside his hand...

He was to close to make threats...a LB 7

came into play before he could make his

move and he changed his mind...

If you are going to shoot, shoot, don’t

talk...I’m just glad no blood had to be

spilled...

All true. When I started working in prison as a CO, the older guys told me it would ruin me for being in crowds for the rest of my life. They were right. I can't stand strangers getting close to me. My wife says, "you get so jumpy, always looking around and stuff". She's right, I do. It pays to see bad shit coming in time to react to it. I still don't have any more holes in me than I was born with and I want to keep it that way. That article has some very good life saving advice in it. The author certainly seems to know what he's talking about. His bio is impressive. One thing I might add is something they drilled into us during defensive tactics classes in the academy. ...ground fighting. I don't mean the MMA, Brazilian stuff. This is the get down on the ground and use your legs to keep your attacker off of you. When practiced with bad intentions, it's effective and will at least buy you some precious time. Typically, people have shoes or boots on and that can afford you at least some protection from the blade. Maybe enough time to get your gun out, if you have one. ...or for help to arrive. In prison, we were betting on that second option. ...hoping for the cavalry to get there in time. Unfortunately, we were always vastly outnumbered and it was always the old "no guns, just guts(and gas)" thing for our self defense. Out in the street, I at least have a gun. Thank God!

Well said Eric.
The 21 foot rule. If a knife fighter gets within that distance unless your a fast draw expert who practices you may have problems.

Years back when I got the Az. ccw class the Tueller drill was part of the class. The 21 foot distance attack scene. Most can't draw and fire a pistol when attacked from 21 feet.

Ten years or so ago, tried the drill, two rounds center mass. "attacker'' just under three feet from me at second shot.

Still gonna get stabbed!

Instructor was floored, that an old fart could do that, asked how come I could.

Told him the 55 plus years of practice with a 1911 might be the key.

Regards,

Same applies with guns. if a person wants to kill you there isnt much you could do to stop them.

Heck I still rather fight someone with a knife than a gun, as long as I can see it ahead of time. Just like with guns, you need to get in real close to the attacker, take control of that arm and keep it out, use your weight and get him down, some of us have an advantage on that respect. Then kill him.
