Suppressor ??
Gentlemen, what is the shortest can you can get away with on a 9mm? How about .380? The pressure difference is 9mm/35K and the .380/21K.

length.. maybe 4" diameter 2" if you're goin short.
a decent blast/gas baffle is important.

Pressures not withstanding, heat is the element that must be dealt with…silence is not always such a good thing, disrupting the sound pattern is…the Russians do this on the SVD 7.62X54r…of course you are dealing with a supersonic round…with the hand guns under power ammunition is available that is subsonic and easily 'silenced' but the material(s) the silencer is made of will somewhat determine size…think chain saw muffler vs Corvette…we used to build them using metal bottle caps for baffles with aluminum or copper washers (think fender washers) for spacers…but you'll just have to work the details out for yourself…they aren't as complicated as some folks make them…hell, a 1 liter soda pop bottle taped to the end works pretty good…makes its own hole…but it's a one shot affair!
