Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Have you ever tried to make your own leather holster?

If so, what kind of sewing machine / tool do you recommend?

I have one my cousin made for me. I bought the leather and a set of barbed wire border stamps to give to him as payment.

Anyway, the way he sewed it was with a needle and thread. He took a small drill bit on a Dremel tool to make the holes after marking them with a pinwheel device. Then he sewed it together with a thick, waxed thread - probably nylon.

Then I formed it to my Super Blackhawk.

I probably wouldn't form it, if I had it to do over again. But it does keep it from bouncing around in the holster.

If you have a Tandy's/Leather Factory near you, I've heard you can rent time on their industrial sewing machines, too. At least the one in Albuquerque, you can.

A Speedy Stitcher and a dremel drill will do it for me. I put together a used saddle I bought using one. All the stitching had rotted out of it, so I replaced it using one of these> http://www.speedystitcher.com/#the-basics

I've had a Swiss Army knife or 2 or 5 for years, the first one my Dad bought for me when we laid over in Zurich, Switzerland on our way back from Mallorca when I was a kid. They all have the awl on them, but I never knew how to use it.

How to Sew with a Swiss Army Knife Awl / Reamer

There's lots of videos on youtube of guys making custom leather holsters. Its pretty impressive. Personally, I don't think I'd have the patience for it.

Ben Van Dyke is making a couple for me, along with a fancy new "gun belt". Seems he's got all sorts of time, since he's not on the road with his dad much, these days.

Getting ready to do one from a kit.
Got the rivets and lace, and a fleur de Los concho for it.
Got vacation starting Friday, will start by staining the leather.
Hopefully have it done in a couple days time.
Will be for a Heritage rough rider .22

Will kinda look like this when finished.

Not going to do any tooling?

Make sure you post a pic of the finished holster, though.

Not much of an artist, and don't want to ruin good leather learning
