I snuck up on a Coopers Hawk today
It warmed up a bit so I went for a short hike. I spotted a Coopers Hawk zooming around in the brush. Apparently he was trying to catch a rodent the was hiding in the leaves. He was busy concentrating on the rodent and didn't notice me quietely walking up on it. I could have kicked it.
When I snapped this picture he heard it and was gone in a flash. I've never got this close to a hawk before. Coopers Hawk by John Danley, on Flickr

Raptors are bad to the bone. Driving along...I noticed a bunny sitting alongside the road...a redtail hawk used the moving car in front of me to block the rabbits view of him zooming down for the kill. As the car in front passed the bunny...BAM! The hawk had him and was flapping for altitude. It was pretty amazing really.

Great shot Pogo.
Marine Lee's hawk you got the picture of is here everyday catching little lizards on my front lawn. They really ain't afraid of to many things including humans cause once this girl goes in for the kill she could care less if I am their. Bald eagle was eating a dead raccoon up the road here in the middle of a pack of buzzards. By the time I got my crippled ass up their with the camera they were gone.

Woman snaps amazing photos of deer wandering into Colorado store
http://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoor...ado-store.html A friend up the road here had a little tiny fawn just show up on his back porch. Mom must have been hurt or something? He nursed her got her healthy and she came and went living on his porch "door always open" for a year before finding a boyfriend. His big pooch and the deer walked the neighborhood together and were best buddies. |
