Tornado in Jefferson City, Mo., may have caused ‘catastrophic damage’: reports
Jefferson City, the capital city of Missouri, has taken a direct hit from a tornado and suffered possibly “catastrophic” damage, according to reports.
Two local hospitals were treating a total of about 100 people for unspecified injuries, according to a report. "Hospital staff say ambulances have been in and out all morning," the report by Columbia, Mo.'s KOMU-TV said. News accounts and posts on social media refer to people possibly trapped in apartment complexes, gas leaks, possible damage to the Missouri Statehouse and other impacts. https://www.foxnews.com/us/tornado-i...damage-reports My God terrible damage and injuries. Prayers on the way for all out their.

No, we're good here. I live 30 miles west of JC. My brother was working in Eldon when that one hit, so he spent the tornado in the ladies room and he's OK but without power. A coworker had the one in Brazito pass his house at 100 yards and flipped a truck over and tossed an unoccupied mobile home into the lake in his community. It looks like most of the local trouble went right up Highway 54.
I just had a couple of limbs down here.

I suspect that the only structure designed and built to withstand such a beast is the old state prison, now a museum...the new commercial prisons, if there are any there, are not built so well...would not be the place to get through such a storm.
The old Indian tribes tried not to live too close to 'tornado alley' and just traveled through to hunt...those that stayed didn't last; hell, the Wichita built their homes of wood and straw, looked like 40' haystacks...imagine that in this wind. |
