Korean Kimchi
I LOVE kimchi!
The first time I tried it was during a USAR training deployment to South Korea. It tasted, cold, nasty and sour. I watched how the Korean soldiers ate it. For them, it was almost a garnish. They put a little on their plates breakfast, lunch and dinner. I started doing what they did. Over time, I got hooked. Great stuff! |

Next try toast with Vegemite. Honor our Australian brothers. It's good stuff.

Again, I may have meant Marmite. 1911 gave me some he brought from down under when he was here, and I ate half the jar eventually but it is an acquired taste. Maybe he remembers what it was, I forgot.

Wife and I were talking about kimchi a couple weeks ago. Just today, she surprised me with a big bag of kimchi from Amazon. I haven't had it in years. i'm geeked!

I love Kimchi. There is a Korean grocery store here that sells homemade stuff and it is awesome with steamed rice. However, it really stinks up the refrigerator and my wife hates it.

I had a little bit of it tonight with dinner. First time in many years. It's just as I remembered and there's plenty for future meals.
Wife won't touch it. (More for me!) |

Didn't know kimchi came in a bag. I've only seen it in jars.

Same here. I had no idea it came in a bag and that you can buy it online. It arrived in a thick plastic bag. My wife immediately transferred the contents to glass jars for ease of use.
All in all, it's the same kimchi I've always loved. No difference. From this point forward, I think kimchi will be on the menu for many years to come. One minor complication: Wife won't touch it and hates the smell. I offered to limit most of my kimchi consumption when she's not around. |
