Not Gonna Renew
Received my renewal paper for C&R and I really can't see any justification to keep it. Most of the good stuff came and went before I ever got on the bandwagon, so...

I just renewed mine , but I have to agree. Other that being able to order stuff wholesale from some distributors, there's not really much need for it anymore. C&R firearms have almost become a thing of the past.
One thing that would concern me about letting it go, is that I've had it sense 1974- 1975 and with all the rule changes over the years,, what paperwork I have now covering guns sold years ago,,may not necessarily comply with current laws ,,where as it did just a few years ago. So how will things be handled in circumstances like that if I did not renew it next trip around? ,,am I a criminal now due to law/rule changes over the years by the ATF?? Even though what was done originally in my bound book,, may no longer apply,or comply with today's laws/rules covering those guns? Will that become an issue legally , if anyone does let there FFL go???? |

I received my renewal notice a few days ago. For $30 I am going to keep it.

I've kept mine going.
Not too keen on turning my C&R book over to "them" on giving it up.

I allowed mine to expire a few years ago and with that my old bound book became history. I then applied again a year or more later and with that started a new bound book.
I just applied for renewal last week. I don't have much in my current bound book and that's the way I like it. If C&R stuff begins to flow again I'll start collecting again then reevaluate if I need to allow the license to expire again. The bottom line is I don't intend to invite the ATF to my home to review my book and collection and would rather not have to haul a lot to their office to complete an inspection. You know there is a lot more stuff out there. It's just a matter of getting the communists out of Washington again.

You don't have to turn over your C&R book to anyone if you don't renew your license, you can keep it if you want or just shred it and throw it away. Like RetVet said, if you decide to get a new license later you just start a new book with whatever you purchase with your new license.

There are tens of thousands of Garands and carbines sitting in Korea alone and the only thing keeping them from coming home is the ape and the former Chicom Hillary..... now Kerry. Get those bastards out of Washington and there's the chance we could get them here, along with a lot more shit sitting in the former soviet republics and elsewhere.

Indeed it would 44044,,,,other than my Camp Perry match Garrand still sealed in the wood crate with the lead seals still intact,,I don't have a single Garrand to shoot,,and I would certainly like to,I like them and the M1 carbines,,,fun fun!!
I'm sure there's lots of lend/lease guns languishing in some dark, dusty warehouse somewhere. I sure miss the days when I was growing up,,where you could get really nice Mausers, Springfields and the like for<50 bucks, even from the back of Popular Mechanics magazines!! Ya,,,,I'm that old!!! And I'm sure there's plenty of other old fucks here, that remember as well! Shit ,,30-06 in Garrand clips was only 29 bucks a case back in the day!!! Crazy to think about,,,right???? |
