Dog's mystery illness solved by intern
Ollie, a 10-year-old Sheltie from Portland, Oregon, was moments from being euthanized when a veterinary intern spotted the problem that left the dog fighting for his life.
The dog's owners had a tough decision to make when his health started to rapidly deteriorate. Ollie wasn't eating or drinking, he couldn't eliminate on his own and was almost completely paralyzed. After multiple tests and no sign of a solution, Ollie's owners, Al and Joelle Meteney, decided it was time to end his suffering. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/05/23/us...rpt/index.html Sharp intern. Glad that Ollie got a new lease on life.

I had a sheltie when I was a kid. Tough dang dog. He almost died more times than I can count.
He was hit by a car. Poisoned (by drinking from a puddle that probably contained anti freeze, we think) at a rest area when we were traveling. Rattlesnake bit several times, and was beat up by coyotes and got bad foxtails in California. There was also a house my parents rented that turned out to have a bad tick infestation. Poor dog got all covered in ticks and picking them off him was a daily chore. It seemed no tick dip would get rid of them. I was glad when we finally moved out of that place. Nobody knows how old he was when we finally had to put him down, but we know he was at least pushing 20 yrs - and he was full grown when my aunt picked him up as a stray in Detroit, then moved with him to Florida, then finally brought him out to Arizona where she left him with my grandparents. We were staying with my grandparents and he adopted me and my brother and sisters, so went home with us for his last 15 years.

A friend of mine's lab had a softball size lump on her neck. The vet could not figure it out. A new vet found some sort of thorn in there and charged $900 to pull it out.

Our Papillon has lymes. I've been diagnosed with a tick born illness the docs don't care to diagnose. Good save on the pup!

I had lymes...I think that is part of
why my energy level is low...some days I have to force myself to get things done... Tired all of the time, it seems... I blame it on the wife though, after 43 years of marriage, a guy's got a reason to be tired... |

Drs. are still missing Lyme disease in humans good save on that Collie pup for the Doc. Female friend in town here got Lyme disease and they missed it till symptoms got way worse. Now the pretty lady is a mess physically.
First discovered in Old Lyme Connecticut not far from our family home. If your of normal good health and start getting tired frequently don't be afraid to question your Dr. to check for the damn disease.
