WASR 10 AK Trigger Slap

I always thought trigger slap was something folks made up to exaggerate recoil on AK's.

That is, until this weekend. I was shooting a WASR 10 AK with an Ace folding stock. Dang trigger was slapping my finger so hard, it is still numb. I didn't even get through a 30 round mag before I was done with it.

I haven't had that kind of slap on any other AK.

What's a good remedy for this? Maybe replacing the stock trigger group with a different one? A double hook? If I can't fix it, there's no good reason to keep it around, that I can figure.

If I remember correctly they were famous for this. wrap a rubber band around the trigger? My MAC10 has some sort of soft material on the trigger to help with it.

I’ve heard the Romanian trigger sear had too much metal, and can be ground down. There are videos on how to do it.

I guess some slap and some don't.
I had a WASR 10 that I shot a fair amount and I never felt any trigger slap at all.

Tapco AK trigger eliminates this. I had a WASR 10 and a Bulgarian 74 clone both with Tapco triggers. Never got slapped. Most reviews say they are smooth.

I thought SAM's had that issue and not the Wasr's? I have never experienced it but much talk about trigger swap on the other board. If you don't want it I am somewhat close and possibly work a deal with you. I can always work another AK into the family.

P.s. Sorry my bad not SAM but SAR's. They had a bad rap for trigger slap.

I've had three WASR 10s, and have not experienced trigger slap with any of them. Must be a hit or miss kind of thing.

I have a couple Tapco hammer-trigger-sear sets. Reckon I'll swap one into it and see what happens.

I changed to a Tapco set a long time ago and never went back.

My SAR-1 Romy I bought back around 2002 nib developed noticeable slap only after I had run upwards of 10,000 rounds through it. About 4 years ago I dropped a Tapco G2 trigger group in it and presto, issue solved. The trigger pull is a lot crisper too, then the original Century setup. Cost me all of about $45.

Ironically the Century made RAK-1 is reputed to be a really good trigger, even better than Tapco.
If you do go Tapco, you can round the two angular bumps a bit with a file while not touching the flat part that contacts the rear of the bolt to help avoid deforming the pointy bit at the back of the bolt carrier as much.

I set it off to the side for another project and kind of forgot about it. I was going to buy another Tapco G2 set, but Midway was sold out. I did not know it, but I guess Remington owned Tapco and shut it down, and liquidated the assetts along with Bushmaster and DPMS.

Found one of my Tapco sets in a weird place, the other day. I thought all I had was double-hook sets, and would have to do a little Dremel work, but it was a single hook so it dropped right in, but I haven't had a chance to test it, yet.
