Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default 1911 sear pin question

I ordered a Kimber ambi safety that I intended to install on a Chiappa 1911.
It comes with a new sear pin to hold the right hand side on.
The pin was to large to fit in the frame. I did install it on a Kimber I had with no issue.
Is it just a tight fit and I need to ream the frame on the Chiappa?
And what size reamer would I need?

What kind of finish is on the Chiappa? Could it just be parkerizing or coating in the hole making it tight? I’d look at polishing the hole before reaming the frame.

Looks to be a coating, paint possibly.
Chiappa's being a entry level 1911 it could be the coating. I will see if it will polish up and try inserting the old Kimber pin.

Were you able to make it work without modifying the frame?

It's most likely the coating.

Just got back to this.
I left the ambi safety on the Kimber and ordered another.
The new sear pin was tight but that one did wiggle in without any polishing.

Thanks for the help.

Semi auto firearms DO NOT CONTAIN a "sear."

SEAR.... Is a machine gun term. Period.

Semi auto firearms contain a "disconnect." Never a sear. Unless there is an NFA registered sear installed.
