When I used to spend time down in old Mexico at Cholla Bay, they'd come flying over every so often to check on us.
Called them the Mexican Air Force.

Darn right right they bite. Grew half way up on Tampa bay a third close to the gulf coast and New Port Richy the rest of the way in the Army. Figured I'd never see another pelican when I retired here. But I'll be darned if we don't have fresh water pelicans at 11 mile reservoir. They are just as big and just as darn mean. They figure the fish there are theirs and theirs alone.

We have 'em migrate to this area every Spring.
White ones. They gather at a certain area every year. I'll try to remember to take my camera this year. Get a pic of about a hundred of them gathered. |

They are not afraid of people when hungry. I hooked one up one time while casting, had to reel him up and some guy with a net held him down while I pulled the hook off his wing, that bird was pissed to say the least, but he should have never gone after my bait.

No, they don't taste like chicken neither do sea gulls. No, I am not going to tell you how I know.
