Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Ramshot Powder

Have a lead on some Ramshot Powder I can get at a reasonable price...either True Blue, Zip or Silhouette. Anybody had good results loading 9mm./.40/.45 with any of these powders?

I have heard that True Blue is the old Winchester WAP powder with flash suppressor added. Also was told that True Blue burns cleaner than Win. 231 (which in my limited experience wouldn't be hard to do).

I've also never even heard of those powders.

I pretty much stick with IMR or Alliant powders.

Well, I've gotten the Ramshot True Blue powder in. It's made by Western Powder, or at least distributed by them, in Montana. They are apparently the same folks that make/market Montana Xtreme gun cleaning products.

I literally just got the powder yesterday, so I haven't even decided what caliber I'm going to load with it yet, though from the load sheet they sent, it looks mighty good in .40 S&W. A little goes a long way, and it develops one of the highest velocities of any powder with both 165 gr. and 180 gr. bullets. I hope I don't have trouble with my powder thrower...this stuff is super small. I also will have to wait on my primer order to get in, whenever that will be. I don't have much loading experience so far, but will give my opinion based upon Alliant powders and a couple of Hodgdon powders I have used so far.

I don't know anything about the powder but my sierra book lists both the true blue and Silhouette at 1200 Fps for their 115 gr HP. the Zip is listed at 1150. those are all at maximum load. it also lists all three for the 40 S&W.

Well, I have loaded both 9mm. and .45 with the Ramshot True Blue powder. It is a slower burning powder, not quite like Blue Dot by Alliant, but close. What I do like about the powder is that it meters very consistently, and it's dense loading characteristics lend itself to work well with max loads and heavy bullets. What is not so good (for me at least) is that the size of the granules of powder are so small, that it leaks out of my powder measure; not bad enough that it makes a big mess, but after a few hundred rounds, you have to dust off the loader and bench. In maximum loads, it nearly tops the velocity charts in both 9mm. and .45 for bullet weights I carry 124 gr. and 230 gr. respectively. It doesn't seem to burn as dirty as some of the Alliant powders I have used, but other than a few loadings with Hodgdon, I don't have anything else to compare it to. I'm happy with it so far, so if you see some around, you might give it a try.

How is it cost wise in comparing the cost to load a cartridge vs using Red Dot or Bullseye or other powders?

I haven't figured it to the round, but per pound the True Blue is $3-$4 cheaper than Alliant powders I have such as Power Pistol and Unique. I wasn't able to get it in a larger quantity (but is normally available) but there would probably be some additional savings there. It will probably become a mainstay on my bench.

I use it in my .40 Taraus. I loaded True Blue w/ 6 grains and really like it. I did buy Silhouette, Zip, And Enforcer, but haven't had a chance to load with them yet.
