Ruger MKIV recall..
Ruger recently discovered that all Mark IV™ pistols (including 22/45™ models) manufactured prior to June 1, 2017 have the potential to discharge unintentionally if the safety is not utilized correctly. In particular, if the trigger is pulled while the safety lever is midway between the “safe” and “fire” positions (that is, the safety is not fully engaged or fully disengaged), then the pistol may not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, if the trigger is released and the safety lever is then moved from the mid position to the “fire” position, the pistol may fire at that time.

Keep your booger hook off the bang switch until you are ready to fire, and the safety is frivolous.
I still want a Mark IV, though.

1. It's a jamm-a-matic unless it's PERFECTLY clean. 2. It requires high velocity ammo, otherwise it becomes a jamm-a-matic. 3. It's difficult to disassemble and assemble. I should have kept my Ruger Single Six, but (like and idiot) sold it and kept the MKII Jamm-a-matic. |

Maybe you got a lemon - or need to do some reliability mods on your MkII.
I have a MkII 22/45 with a bull barrel and that thing runs like a top on anything I want to feed it. I was actually quite surprised, because these pistols are known to be picky eaters. The only mods I did was to polish the chamber and feed ramp. Plus I use Slide Glide (available from Dillon Precision) for the oil on this pistol. My only problem with this pistol is that it is so dang accurate and reliable, it is boring to shoot. After you take them apart and put them back together a few times, it isn't so much of a puzzle anymore. But I still prefer the breakdown of the MkIV. |
