Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Here's video of the other two vehicles on that obstacle. The guy with the white Xterra had his little boy sleeping in a car seat in the back, and the kid never woke up until later on.

Another great video!

Good thing folks were willing to guide the drivers on the 'easy' route.

Here's another video from last week, shot by one of the guys with his GoPro.

He would move it around on his truck -- sometimes facing forwards, then he'd move it to the back, then had it on the side of his truck for a bit, as well. It was a pretty versatile mount, he had.

I didn't realize there was music on the video until after it was done, as my computer was muted.

Sanders great pictures. The one picture of the small cave I would bet saw a lot of visitors seeking shelter? From two legged to four legged, to bad it could not talk.

Here's another video of the white Xterra going up one of the obstacles. There was an oil stain on one of the rocks and a mark that said someone came down a little too hard on it. But this guy went up it just fine. He was a bit shaky when he made it up, though.

GPS works fine, but no cell phone service out there.

Good thing the GPS works, because we all lost our bearings out there.

Woke up this morning and loaded up the wife and dogs into the Xterra and took off for a quick run up the old La Bajada road which is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, just North of the present day I-25. It is said the road has been in use for 300 years, and was improved in the 1800's by the Army and again in the 20's.

http://4x4trailmaps.com/4x4Trails.php?Trail_ID=465

The phone company decided to run their fiber optics line down it, though. That was mind-boggling -- running over manholes toward the top of the trail in rough spots.

Now, everything I've read indicated this was a "green" or easy trail. It isn't. I'd put it at at least a blue (intermediate) for the old section I went up, keeping in mind that I think of a red trail (difficult) as one that can't be done without a lift and 35" tires.

My Xterra is, for all purposes, a stock machine. I don't count the Insain Fab rear bumper, as it didn't change the offroad profile except for the approach in the rear.

I won't make the mistake of doing it by myself again. There were too many places for mishaps, and not having a partner could have resulted in a long walk if anything went wrong.

Even learned why the Nissan running boards are crap. This damage happened not 50 yards from the top of the hill, before it got all smooth and two-wheel-drivey (is that a term?). Guess who will be getting sliders?

Skids would be nice to have, as well. The Xterra S does not have skids, and thank goodness nothing decided to go through an oil pan, gas tank, or differential. So, yes, you can do without the skids, but they would give some peace of mind.

My cell phone pics aren't that good, since I can't see the screen in the sun, but guess if I have it pointed the right direction.

One of the many rock retaining walls built in the 1800's. What is ironic, is the road was washed out on the other side running parallel alongside the wall. I had to hug the side of the mountain, as the washout was probably 4-6 ft. deep.

That's not a ROAD! That's barely a donkey trail!

You're sure having fun with that car.

Great pictures, too, cell phone or otherwise.

I figured I'd head up a back road from Cochiti Lake toward Los Alamos and camp out somewhere in the mountains - or not. I wasn't completely all-in on camping out last night, but figured I'd take everything along as an exercise.

As I packed the car yesterday morning, there was thunder and lightening and it started sprinkling. These summer rain storms tend to pass by pretty quickly, so I wasn't too worried. By the time we got away, around 9 a.m. (was trying to leave by 8) it was already shaping up to be a pretty nice day.

Here are some pics --

The road just re-opened in April, after having been closed since '06 due to the huge Conchas Fire that burned thousands of acres.

I didn't keep track of the canyon names, but the road hugs the edge of this one.

Several interesting rock formations, eroded volcanic tufa. I didn't get pictures of them, but there are areas with several of these that folks call tent rocks.

Bambi had no fear of us. This was a red mule deer spike buck. I've only ever seen grey mule deer, but this guy definitely had the ears, so I don't know what else he could have been.

Down below is what is left of the Dixon apple orchard. Floods after the fire wiped the place out. They were trying to get the taxpayers to reimburse their losses, but were told to pound sand. It used to be a pretty neat place, but you build you farm in a flood plain, taxpayers should not have to bail you out when it floods.

You can sort of see Cochiti Lake up in the left top portion of this picture. Note the burned Ponderosa pines.

Had to stop so the dogs could pee.
