Coon in my attic
A coon got into the attic of my house. I heard something up there at night. So I put a trap in the attic and also put a game camera up with it. I put a trap in the attic above my garage.
The coon approached the trap with the bait inside. Finally it went in to get the bait and the trap door slammed shut. I had it for about 4 hours. Then it started grabbing anything it could reach and ripped off pieces and drug it in the trap. Finally it jammed underneath the locking lever with all of the stuff it pulled inside. That pushed up locking rod which holds the trap door shut. And then it could escape. The last two photos are the trap after I brought it down on my garage floor and the corner of my house where it pulled the aluminum off of the corner of my roof and chewed the board behind it. I'm going to try to trap it one more time. If that fails my only recourse is to go up into my attic and shoot it with a .22 CB short. I think I'm going to go with this on the ground right below where it comes out of my attic.
I don't like using this kind of a trap - there is only one way to release a coon from this trap. But I don't want it up in my attic. DSC_4087 by John Danley, on Flickr |

Those coon cuff traps are great.
And you should NEVER release a coon from a trap. If you do, the next time that coon invades some guy's house, he will be impossible to trap. In Utah it is unlawful to release a coon. They must be dispatched. If it is not legal to shoot where you are, you can use a pipe or a barrel of water.

Do you have a good air gun? I hate to dispose of them but I don't want them in my house either. Peanut butter works very well too.

A buddy of mine had a coon in his condo second floor. He was convinced he could get it with a suppressed .22 pistol. I told not to even try it seeing as he couldn't see where any pipes were.
Needless to say his shot hit a copper water pipe. It didn't totally penetrate it but it did dump a shit load of water into his & the 2 units below him. His coon cost him as much as his leopard hunt did! |

Got one eating the dog’s food. Cersei has a couple of aunts that just had litters two days ago. Have to kill this SOB before he eats the babies. Probably what got her mother.
