Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Hard drive kaputt.

Had a power surge a while back, I just came to my computer and it says HD not there, I switched it with an old one I had put away and it worked, I already replaced the one in this computer I'm using now about two years ago. I have a Seagate 2 T coming from Amazon tomorrow. in the meantime I put the dead one in the freezer to see if I can extract some data.

No I ordered a regular one, I also ordered the control board for the drive itself, something was getting very hot on it and the disc was actually spinning all right so I figured for $12 it's worth a try, it did happen after a power surge so it has to be an electrical problem not mechanical, maybe I can recover everything in it, it takes a month to get here so I'll have to wait and set up the new one anyhow.

There is a small part a ROM chip that needs to be be swapped on the board with the original one that came with the drive but I have the tools to do it

A surface mount component soldering station. I kept some of the tools when I closed the electronic service place 21 years ago, I figured someday they may come in handy. It's an 8 pin chip the size of a tick.

I really do not know but I've heard sometimes you can get them to run for a while after doing so. Not my case though.
