My old reload equipment resurrected!
My old reloading equipment... this was given to me for Christmas by my dad when I was 14 yo... Thank you dad! ... it hads been in cold storage for at least 15 years It came as an entire rcbs reloading kit I have a lee auto prime tool but no 45 colt shell holder... I'm going to order one and start reloading 45 colt black powder loads I'm going to attempt to set it up and get it back working again... I have an RCBS powder weight scale not in the photo. Stay tuned

My powder charger is frozen......probably rusted from the condensation of spending so many years in a storage shed in chicago...I had it stored inside one of those plastic storage tubs.....im going to have to hit it with wd-40 and let it soak in so i can get it to move///then take it apart and clean it. |

I reloaded a lot of shells on my Rockchucker. Now, I do most of my reloading on a progressive press (did 200 .44 Specials in 2 hours this evening). The Rockchucker stays set up on its own stand and I use it mostly to deprime and size my rifle brass. In the case of precision loads, I use it for everything, especially if I'm just knocking out 20 or so cartridges.

Both powder chargers we seized from rust. Now I'm in the process of packing everything up again, probably to never use them. I have powder that dates back over 30 years also. Primers older than that. |

Don't run black powder through the powder measure. Pour it into the brass measuring powder dispenser. There is a real danger of the black powder exploding being run through a powder measure designed for smokeless powder. I've known this to happen with dire effects.

I had no idea. I don't reload anything with black powder right now, but will remember this. Thanks.

Vinegar will do it. Anything that's rusted, just drop in vinegar for a couple days. I learned that from my grandfather about 50 years ago. He had a metal file that rusted out, he got it like new again.
