Alligator lizards
Ive seen 3 huge Alligator lizards the last several days on my hike.
You dont see them that often. I have them around my property some times Yesterday I stepped on one big one on the over grown trail. Saw it right as I was stepping down and jumped....thought it was a snake or rattler at first picture, these are small compared to the ones I seen lately. About 1 foot long. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...g_mantis_2.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elgaria

I have never seen one here. Interesting it is a reptile that can live all the up too the frozen north and in the Rocky Mountains.
Hell we have things down here that would call that guy a snack.

One type of cool critters I remember that you just dont see any more are Desert tortoises.
As a kid there Used to be herds of hundreds of them you would see in the desert as you drove by on the highway, or see them crossing the road People would bring them home as pets and they would dig under ground and disappear and then you would see them all around where they built houses I think they might be endangered species for awhile https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_tortoise |
