XD holsters
I had never used this before but every Springfield XD comes with a belt scabbard-slide holster and a mag carrier.I decided to try using the holster over the weekend.Well you can't ask for much as these are freebies but I find the holster to be pretty worthless. The belt loop should have been molded as close to the holster as possible.
Wearing a belt, the holster sticks out from your side just enough that it cants outwards away from your body at 45 degrees and doesn't feel secure. The loop is to wide to grab onto your belt and makes you feel like some hillbilly sheriff with his gun flopping all over his belt.I don't recommend them.I have an inside the pants slide with a clip that is much better but don't care for IWB's.I think I am going to go with a fobus or a serpa paddle for the XD as they attach to your belt and the clip also secures inside your pants. The serpa has other advantages in that with a quick attachment it can become a thigh rig or adapted to a vest for chest carry so we will see.

Why are there rails on the holster? Are you supposed to carry your mall ninja shit on the holster until you need it?

God intended for guns to be made of steel and wood...holsters to be made of leather. What more does a guy need to know???

I've had several holsters that leaned out at the top like that. They weren't worth a crap. I like the firearm pulled up tight against my body.

I actually did not mind the rail on it if the holster was actually serviceable. It holds the Streamlight when not in use.I wouldn't call it mall ninja,an under barrel light has uses and has served me well both in and out of the military.

I see your point, and my comment was not aimed at you in any way. But I am sure that you also see my point, and that 99% of the users probably don't need a rail on a holster. Except for the mall ninja "cool factor".

I really like the Blackhawk leather IWB holster for the XD. With the right belt and shirt I can summer carry my 4" XD45 with no problems I've used the freebie a couple of times at the range to hold the gun while downrange but that has been about it.
and I thought the rail was to hold the loading tool. |
