Hey HorseSoldier - My M9
I took some better pictures of it, so I thought I'd post them.
It isn't my favorite handgun (mostly because of the caliber), but it is the last firearm I carried in the military. So I had to buy one for myself. It is an M9, marked "US", and has a real unique serial number. It is only four digits, and all four digits are the same.

That would have been a super handgun if it had been made in 10mm or .357 Sig.

I think in those calibre offerings it would have been better than in 9mm P, but I still prefer a 1911A1, in .45ACP, as I know you do as well!

Certainly, the .45 acp is the king of semi-auto handgun cartridges.

Can't say I was very impressed with .357 SIG. I could see it as a decent suppressed weapon round, for gas leakage around the case, but I am not real impressed with the SIG round. Maybe it would be a good sub gun round, I don't know.

I only know what I've read. I've read that is has great penetrating power, almost that of a .357 Magnum for a revolver.

I was also issued one in the military. I couldn't find a government-marked M9 at the time, so I got a 92FS. I know a lot of people don't like the 9mm. Most people remember the faggy little 9mm cartridge from 1941, which really wasn't worth a damn. I really like the 9mm +P+'s. I now have two 92FS's, and both shoot reliably and accurately. The only 9mm that MIGHT get close to it is the Browning High-Power, in my opinion. As far as .357Sig is concerned, I like that cartridge too. It's powerful, but very very noisy. If loaded properly, it can sneak into the .357Mag stopping-power zone. Then again.... so can a 9mm +P+. I'm not impugning the .45ACP at all, I love all of my .45's. They shoot great as well, I just like to shoot the 92's.

Female soldiers were the BIG factor in downsizing to 9mm when the Beretta was adopted. And the heck of it is females shouldn't even be assigned to units likely to be engaged in combat.
