Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Another homemade stove

This one does not use alcohol and may not run as hot but its still a good little unit. Hope this all makes sense....

It consists of an empty tuna can, corrugated cardboard, paraffin wax. Cut the cardboard into a long strip slightly shorter than the depth of the can. You want the open holes of the corrugated cardboard to be pointing to the top of the can. Roll the cardboard up so it fit tightly in the can. Melt the paraffin and warm the can up a bit. Once the paraffin melts, pour it on top of the cardboard in the can, fill it almost all the way. Let it cool.

Save the tuna can lid to smother the flame when its time to put it out. DONT put water on it. You can put this inside a larger can that has air vents punched in it.

Its not as clean burning as an alcohol stove but you don't have to mess with the fuel.

Good description.
I've made several types of paraffin stoves.
They work, heating AND cooking.

You'll find them called Buddy Burners here and there on the web.

I've used them for years, very convenient in a "Kelly Kettle", and they work fast enough, even in zero temps. I always keep a half dozen or so in the back of the pantry 'cause "you never know".

Used alone you will need a pot stand of some sort, and maybe some sort of windbreak, but you need that with jus about any fire anyhow..

Some knew about them already but I'd bet many if not most members didn't!

Good post silentknight!

Regards,
...
