    Todays marked down meat adventure

I bought a bunch of pig tails at half price. I mixed up a seasoning washed them off in ice water then coated them in the spice. I never did them before so I'm clueless as far as how the will smoke & for how long. My guess 5-6 hours of smoke then I might kick up the heat to get the little bit of skin to crisp up. I invited some guys over so far only has said yeah.

Interesting. I've never seen them for sale, except as something to order at a butcher shop in town. Every time I've ever heard of anyone eating pig tails, it was during a hog butchering and they were frying them in lard.

They turned out really tasty. I only wish that I had bought all of them and froze the other half. One guy must have been really hungry as he had the sauce all over his face.

Does mismarked meat count as marked down meat? I got a brisket at Costco today for $26. It was at the bottom of the pile and marked as ground beef. I think an employee was passing it to someone and didn't think someone like me would come around and go through the entire brisket bin looking for just the right one. Nobody questioned it from the cashier to the door nazi. Ironically, I bought it to grind up as hamburger, anyway.

People make mistakes all the time. You getting doing something and then someone wants something. Working a meat department is a hectic place especially around the holidays.

Those look pretty good, but like oxtails, I know where those spent their life...
