A little over a pound of filet mignon, 3 over easy brown butter eggs, a perfectly ripe avocado and a thick slice of Collins Street Bakery fruit cake, thumbnail.jpg thumbnail-1.jpg

I was by myself, so I grilled a prime ribeye steak and a baked potato (with a shit-load of butter on it).

Here to say that Assumption Abbey fruit cake is better than Collin Street.
I just did a high noon side by side, with a gin and tonic no less, and Assumption Abbey wins.

A friend of mine bought me a bottle of Blanton’s 6 O’Clock Gin. With Fever Tree tonic it makes a great gin & tonic.

on my last grocery store trip they had Collins Street marked down to half price. They mentioned it while I was checking out. I bought 3 of them. Had a big slice this morning with coffee.. I have yet to check it out, but there is a bakery in Palestine, Texas that claims their Fruit cake is better than Collins Street.
Eilenberger’s Bakery, the oldest bakery in Texas, is world-famous for our pecan-loaded Texas fruitcakes. We now ship nationwide with Goldbelly!

It's ironic that I also did a side by side with Canada Dry tonic and Fever tree.
Almost no taste difference between the two straight up and zero with gin and a lime wedge.
I've had a few fancy gins and still prefer Beefeaters.
I'll have to try the Blanton's gin as well as that other fruitcake place. tonic.jpg
