We have been lied to by so many experts I don't know were to start. The fact is I tend to eat very little veggies any longer I prefer burger with out a bun. I went out to lunch because I carried my old friend who is blind around I he felt he needed to but lunch. For the most part the fries that came with my patty melt went untouched. Baboon, excellent choice in food. That will keep your blood sugar low and avoid the hunger provoked by insulin spikes. The 1970's advice against saturated fat has been proven completely wrong. People who eat a diet that replaces saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat have more cardiac events and die sooner. However, eating saturated fat AND carbs, particularly processed carbs, does lead to health problems.

The thing is we all are going to die. My labs come back are for the most part damn good. I get regular blood work every 3-4 months because of the pain meds. With the wife gone it's not like I have to stay alive for her. I have honestly never had a fear of dying. Sorter of Breath, And One day Closer To Death.

Don't be blase about your health. I'm 82 and have lost my wonderful wife. I watch my weight and try to eat wholesome meals. I exercize at least an hour every day. And if the weather is bad I'll do a few miles on my treadmill

I'm actually less blase about my health then I ever have been in my life. You have 17 more years of life on me, and with that all of those experiences and knowledge. I too have lost my wife of 36 years which was a real blow to me.

The one thing that I have said most of my life when someone say "Life isn't perfect, but it's better than the alternative. " you believe in god and in that you believe in heaven and hell. You led a good life that gets you into heaven. I have never heard of a dead person returning and bitching about being dead, where I have heard people bitch about every thing else. Therefore I don't see death as a negative thing.
