Larry there was an honest-to-gawd Good Old boy that's for sure. It's amazing he survived his African Space Race trip.

16,000 feet with commercial airlines waving to him. Plus he bought a six pack and some sandwiches with him to snack on on his trip. Holy sheeet he is the ultimate 'Good Old Boy.'
His chair is in the Air and Space Museum in Wash. D.C..

Back in 1856 there was a Cuban-Portuguese guy who built a hot air balloon and wanted to be the first Cuban flyer...Matias Perez, he flew all right and flew away and away, never to be found (He is depicted in Wikipedia) so there is a Cuban thing when something is totally lost people say ...."It flew like Matias Perez"

Then there was a guy who wanted to invent a better parachute around 1920, it was some sort of skirt that attached to the waist and supposedly would inflate and slow you down in the fall. He tried it at the bay, and jumped from a hot air balloon...my grandfather went to see him do it....guess what?....it didn't work. Instant shark food.

Yeah there were quite a few inventors in Cuba back in the day.
Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.
