At one time I owned a Norinco copy of the Winchester Model 97 riot gun. It was actually pretty nicely rendered and had nice bluing. Thing kicked like a mule though, and the thin plastic stock plate didn't help.

I had a cheap copy .12 Norinco stage coach double barrel and that literally broke your shoulder. I think the Chinese put steel I beams in the stocks. 😆
I have a Win. mod. 97 trench gun completely refinished stem to stern I think its a 1917 or 18 date on it? Lot of varying opinions on refinishing guns but this came out looking factory new. Some company that just does the mod. 97s did the work. I have to see if I have a pict. of it? The damn bayonet is as long as the gun..
Bayonet is original from that time period.

How I got the mod. 97.. So a few years back my buddy sells me a 97 a 1918? or their abouts for $225. As I am mechanically illiterate the crew here and myself started taking it apart to fix some damn thing? Whoops. ☹ Its off to the get around to it storage shelf.. So a bit later I am reading a gun mag and see and article on some guys that just restore fix and sell mod. 97s and nothing else.
I call nice guys say send it in and their is a one year turnaround. Their price? more than I make in a year to fix 'restore' it. I said keep it fix it and make some Vet happy that's all I ask.. They call back "Send us $1,100 and were going to send you something to make you happy." If I don't like it they will refund my money plus all postage FFL trans. fees whatever. O.K done deal..
Two months go by my FFL calls says come pick up a package. Holy sheeet beautiful mod. 97 like fully restored show room perfect with an original bayonet..
Their is a one year wait to even buy one of their weapons. Keep its battle scars restore it either way like the AK they just keep tickin.

Nice people to do business with. A functional work of art, might come in handy down there in your Swamp for dealing with gators or Ms Becky if she decides to go crazy.
