    Chicom Tokarev

Picked one up around Halloween when they were on sale. It was the only one I didn't have to go with the ones available so far from the former Comblock countries.

Stupid safety added to satisfy the ATFtards for import.

At least the Chicom safety is easy to get rid of and still have the gun look like it was originally designed. The Chicoms added the safety to the trigger, much like the one on a Glock, except this one is total shit making trigger pull 10 tines worse than the tokarev triggers already are. All I had to do was find an unmodified trigger and swap it out. Bingo! Original tokarev sans safety as the Russians intended.

No such luck with the safeties added to the Romanian, Polish, and Yugoslavian Tokarevs where the safety was added to the pistol frames, and thus we're stuck with them.

I've worked on a couple of them for friends who bought them when they were 2 for $100.

Suffice it to say they've gone up in price like most of the surplus stuff that used to be dirt cheap.

I recall those original imports had added safeties on the slide. It was no big deal to take them off and put a pin in the hole, if I recall correctly. They were pretty annoying as they could drop to safe under recoil. I think they were a firing pin block or something stupid simple and utterly retarded.

I picked up a Yugo M57 about a dozen years ago for less than $200. It looks new as in never issued or fired. It's a nice little shooter and the mags hold 1 more round than the other Toks.

Drawback was it came with only 1 mag. The modern Serb-made mags won't feed correctly (jams) so I found a few old surplus that work fine. I've never minded the add-on safety.
