No room for the pup to ride along?

We had a member way back in the day who had something like that and took it out on the ocean to fish for sharks.

That dog hasn't loaded up in anything since the wife took him to neuter him

We have 2 kayaks. An "ocean" kayak (sit-on-top) and a more traditional sit-in kayak. Both are 12' long. If I had to buy one right now, here are the criteria I'd be looking for:

    1. Traditional sit-in version. They're lighter and you have a lower center of gravity.
    2. 12' long. Longer kayaks track better. Short ones are harder to control. Anything longer than 12' is hard to carry in a pickup truck bed.
    3. Comfortable seat. Unlike other boats, you're stuck in one position with a kayak. You have to make sure that it's a very comfortable position.

The fishing kayak you're looking at is a different animal altogether. I use my kayaks primarily for floating down rivers. In your case, a shorter, sit-on-top fishing kayak might be just fine for a quick fishing trip.

Not long after getting my kayak I had been wanting, and using it only 3 times, I screwed up my rotator cuff and just cant do it. Can't put it up in the roof rack and can't paddle. So now it sits.

I just finished a 2-day solo canoe trip with a 16' Coleman canoe. My right shoulder is screwed up. I can paddle no problem. However... If I lift the slightest weight from a weird stance, I'm literally down for the count. I've learned to avoid those motions that hurt my right shoulder. Sometimes I'll wake up at 0200 in intense pain because I moved it the wrong way. Frankly... I don't care, because I'm alive and still doing things that I loved to do at age 20; just a little slower now.

That said.... Many of you are in far greater physical distress than I can even imagine. All I'm saying is do the VERY best you can to stay active until the very end. If it means buying a boat trailer so you can haul your canoe, they so be it.
