NRA says it opposes idea of banning transgender Americans from owning guns

Amid reports the Justice Department is weighing banning transgender people from owning firearms in response to last month’s mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic church, the National Rifle Association said Friday it will oppose any blanket rule that limits Second Amendment rights.

Their declaration comes after CNN and other outlets reported that Justice Department leadership is considering whether it can use its rulemaking authority declare that people who are transgender are mentally ill and can lose their rights to possess firearms.

The DOJ doesn't need to open that door.

It could lead to a bit of a slippery slope.

Bondi herself is the camel’s nose in the tent. The camel of complete citizen disarmament.

It's really very simple. Mentally ill people should not own firearms. Transgender people are mentally ill.

This plays right into the leftist hands with their support of red flag laws. Even the NRA sees it as a bad move.

Mentally fucked up people will always find a way to harm others, with guns or without.

Reminds me of when Billy Bob klinton ordered that all vets diagnosed with PTSD possessed firearms illegally.

NRA is showing their true colors. It is just another corrupt organization. They chose to take a position on this issue for a reason. They could have sat back, kept quiet and observed how it played out. Makes me sick when I think back of all the dollars I sent them in the past. Sending them annual dues and them pandering for more money all year long! That has come to an end at least from me.

If there were no NRA...WE the people of the USA, would have all been disarmed 50 years ago. FACT. Insane people should not even be permitted to drive a car let alone own a firearm. But....yes, indeed it is a slippy slope.

These child molesting trans faggots should all be parted out for their organs if not full of AIDS, etc.

I have no love for the NRA. Many years ago I was given a free 1-year membership. For the next 265 days, I was deluged with phone calls, e-mails, texts and letters BEGGING for more money. Disgusting!

I think the chances of transgenders getting banned from buying guns is one in a million. I don't think any judge would even allow it to come to court? So I really feel we don't have to worry about what the NRA thinks or wants. We know what the transgenders are their A holes but when it gets to court 'if' then their will be a whole new set of defining rules. Damn that is like saying people with red hair can't drive their cars on Sunday.
I can only guess but maybe the NRAs support of the trans are to show anyone not a criminal should be allowed to own a weapon? Yes the NRA has its faults but my vote goes for supporting them. A few faults here or their but they have done to much to keep weapons in the hands of the best armed citizens in the greatest country in the world.

ADD: Stopping all trans from owning guns would be just exactly like what the govt. wants to do to us. A nut case does a mass shooting with an AR so we should all not be allowed to own one. The trannies are as weird as can be gotten but to label 'All' of them mass killers due to the faults of one? Think about that one?

Nightmares flashbacks depression it was all hitting me at inappropriate times. My V.A. Doc suggests anti depression meds with a 'controlled' overwatch inpatient at the Miami V.A.. Controlled observed over a one month stay is the key words here now. First one? Nope I wanted to choke some vet for asking me what time it was. Second one I wanted to choke his mother for giving birth to him.
Third one? Bingo we got a winner. Point here is these Drs. can NOT just hand these psych meds out randomly guessing if they will work. They might be turning a normal person with problems into a freaking time bomb waiting to explode. These meds are strong and working on your brain in positive ways or negative. They have to find the correct one that will work for you or me.
But they can NOT just hand psych. pills out and say take two call me in the morning. That sadly is what I think is happening and were reading about them in the morning news. Bottom line? Their is one out their to help but they must must stop prescribing them under uncontrolled conditions or sadly these horror stories will only continue.
20+ yrs. give or take on mine and they have done nothing but helped? Cured? no but at least I can somewhat sleep and for the most part function in society.

Just stop the madness, shit like this didn't happen fifty years ago. What changed?

" psychotropic drugs." I had a classmate who went to giving counseling troubled youth etc and I have watched others in this field and typically they have more mental problems than those they counsel. I am sure there are some good guys out there that do the right thing, but they are few and far between.

I can't speak for others, but I learned at a young age that if I stepped out of line too far, I'd meet my mom's house shoe or my dad's belt.
