I spent a week in Ocho Rios back in the early 80's with my girlfriend. Beautiful white sand beaches, crystal-clear water filled with sea life, palm trees, and great coffee. The downside was the Jamaicans. Little kids running around trying to sell drugs & then inform to the cops, 3rd-World poverty on a scale I've never seen before. Reggae music constantly blasting from boom boxes and radios, barely concealed hatred of white tourists, and a white socialist President named Manley. I've never been back and have told many others since then not to waste their money on what Donald Trump would (rightly) call a Shithole.

I have been to Jamaica twice on vacation with my buddies...years ago... It was pretty cheap to lay in the sun drinking Red Stripe beer. I took one of those BIG commercial boxes of Tide laundry detergent and a carton of Bic lighters and that paiyed for my room and board for two weeks. We stayed in Nagril(sp)not at the big tourist trap places. Mmmmm....Conk fritters. Lots of Rastamen hustling pot and hash. You never want to go up into the hills....not healthy. I took a couple t shirts and cut offs...my snorkel and fins and did not need much else. Water was clear as glass...lots of tourist chicks looking for cocks to ride. It was a good time.
