Germans think differently from us. After WWII, the entire culture was twisted towards pacifism, liberalism, and weakness. Those who held on to old values, had to do so quietly or be labeled a "Nazi".

My wife was barn and raised in West Germany. Over the years, we slowly distanced ourselves from her remaining family. They just got too weird. Both her brothers are far-left loonies who love to talk trash about the US. One of them got so bad, my wife just cut off contact altogether. The other one she still talks to every once in a while but she has to tell him to STFU if he starts talking politics.

I never liked either of them. One of them used to invite his family to our home every Summer for a month-long visit. I hated it. The other loved to brag and talk about himself.
