I'll be gone for a few days, Happy Turkey Day.

Leaving for "my" island, Thanksgiving and daughter's birthday fall on the same day this year and she wants to be there so the whole family is packing up, dogs and all. Not really beach weather but a good time will be had with all three kids and extended family, plus I need to plant a Key Lime tree that I bought for the place. Key Lime Pie anyone?

Have the best possible Thanksgiving anyone, stay away from political and sports arguments. I'll see you all in a few days if I survive this.

I hope that you have a good time with the fambly and have fair weather. Happy birthday to the young un.

Key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts. I have a key lime tree that I grew in a planter that I moved into the garage during the winter to keep it from freezing. I did that for at least 15 years and last year I decided to put in the ground and come what may. It survived the freezes and this year tripled lime production. So we share the limes or squeeze the juice and freeze it.

Hey boss you can't leave us now get the hay back here young feller.. You have a good time with the family buddy and don't eat to much. Ah hell eat.
No family so I invited some homeless a few good buds have no place to go and the girl who cleans and helps me here is helping me cook my 20lb. turkey bird. My police detective good bud neighbor will stop in make everyone nervous. Put that joint out fool.
Love yall all have a good feast and God bless.

ADD: Turkey is in the 'Brine' now anyone else brine their turkey? Makes it super moist.
Tip from the pros I read. However long you cook your turkey let it REST for the same amount of time on the counter covered.
It will keep room temp and the hot gravy will do its job.
Don't take it out of the oven and start cutting you will ruin the bird.

Not cooking, getting everything catered. Wife and I will leave tomorrow sometime, kids will be arriving in waves. Oldest will stay until Monday he has to be in Tampa Tuesday, work related stuff. I brined the turkey once, orange juice and whole fruit, lemon juice and whole fruit , all kind of spices, sugar, salt and some green weeds, 24 hours in the fridge inside a bag with all that stuff, it came out nice. I think this is the longest I'll, stay there since we bought the freaking place. It's for the kids to enjoy. Taking my camera and long telephoto lens, birds are coming back to the island now, maybe I'll get some good shots. That three hour drive is getting to me, thank God and the Japs, the new car drives pretty much by itself.
