    Who Likes Egg Nog?

I know its pretty much a love or hate type thing. I love it but really only drink it around Christmas. Just made my first batch. Some people like rum or brandy or a combo. I'm in camp bourbon. Doc says watch sugar intake so now I use Swerve powdered sweetener. Can't tell the difference.

I'm not particularly picky about what I put into egg nog. I'll take it with rum, brandy, or bourbon. Homemade suits me just fine. Last storebought stuff I got gave me the squirts all night long.

I generally dislike the store bought stuff. Too sweet and too much crap in it. But there is a local dairy here that I think is regional that has fantastic products including egg nog. Oberweis. Great stuff.

Wife bought some that tastes like shit but if you load it up with alcohol it's much better.

Not my thing. I did use it to make waffles and they were good.

              I don't care for it.

Mine is not cooked. Here is basic recipe. I no longer include the bourbon. I just add it to the glass so anyone preferring no booze can have some.

Both of my parents would drink it around Christmas, they would spike it with either gin or rum as I recall. My wife and both my kids liked it too. I never cared for it, too sweet.

Love eggnog, but like anything itโ€™s got to be a quality blend. If you buy whatever generic brand your grocery store sells then yea, you probably think eggnog is garbage and people only drink it because of tradition.

Sip on some good stuff and youโ€™ll realize we only drink it between Thanksgiving abd Christmas because we would be fatter than Jabba the Hut if it was available all year long.

If you're putting eggs in you should warm it up to 144ยบ to be safe, any higher and they'll cook and get hard. Use your kitchen thermometer and keep stirring the mixture. Put alcohol in afterward so it doesn't evaporate. But what do I know?

This is why homemade is better.

I'll double check but I think the eggs are pasteurized. Not certain but either way never had a problem.

I like egg nog especially my wife's homemade kind. I also like fruit cake and the best; plum pudding with hard sauce.

There used to be a milk bottling plant in Cuyahoga Falls named Lawsons that offered eggnog during the holidays. It was the best. I haven't had any REALLY good eggnog since then.
