I was thinking about that like who the hell does not study history and understand that socialism and communism while really good ideas quite simple do not work. My relatives in Hungary got to see how it works being a bit on the wealthy side when the Hungarian revolution ended they were not so wealthy anymore. Communism has its good side but only for those who work up the pecking order in the political ranks and those jobs are very few. Everyone else is waiting for that gift box to show up on their front steps in the morning.

That's the problem. The people that vote for this do not study history. Or economics. Or anything. All they hear is "Free stuff! Free stuff!"

I'd say that there is less Constitutional protection against communism/collectivism than we'd like to believe. The requirements for 'republican form of gov' clearly prevent dictatorship or any number of authoritarian types of government often associated with communism. Statutory rules also aim to prevent violent communist takeover. But the statutes don't seem to prevent a jackass like Mamdani from running for, or obtaining political positions. (it is done peacefully via votes)

There is no law preventing a communist from being elected. But the Constition and federal and state laws
prevent many comnunist ideologies from being implemented.
