Corporation for Public Broadcasting is officially shutting down months after . . .

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting — which helped fund NPR, PBS and many local radio and TV stations — is officially shutting down, months after Congress passed spending cuts that stripped it of more than $1 billion in funding.

“For more than half a century, CPB existed to ensure that all Americans—regardless of geography, income, or background—had access to trusted news, educational programming, and local storytelling,” said Patricia Harrison, CPB's president and CEO.

I'm glad to see my tax dollars no longer supporting a failing business.

Ha, just out of curiosity I pulled their financials the other day...the main honcho makes over a million dollars a year from our tax dollars . Fuck that!

reminds me of an acquaintance of ours who was the editor of the Miami Herald and opened a non profit to help kids, he sent an email asking for donations so again being the asshole that I am I looked them up...the guy was making over half a mil from the non-profit. I told my wife she couldn't believe it. Oh and donations had to be $75 and above.

Agreed. When you push back the emotion, and start looking at the financials, you quickly discover most charities are scams. Somebody's getting rich off your donation. I don't donate to anyone. I keep my money close.

I still regularly donate blood, knowing full well that my highly prized O negative is going to be sold off to some hospital for big money. So what? Some deserving person is going to get it, even is somebody else is scamming money from it.

It only took them over 30 years to shut it down from when they started talking about doing so.
