Is TruFuel any good?

Backstory: With the upcoming winter storm, I tried to start my dad's (which pretty much means my) Honda 2000 generator. And of course, I couldn't get it started. That's my fault for letting it sit for so long without running it. Shame on me, bad prepper! So I plan on taking it somewhere to get it cleaned up and brought back to life.

With the generator being brought back to life, I thought about solely stocking and using Trufuel for it. We used to use non-ethanol gas with fuel stablizers. But that is said to last 6-12 months in storage. But TruFuel is supposed to last 5 years unopened, 2 years opened or sitting in the generator. That is why I am thinking of making the change.

Anyone else have experience with TruFuel regarding use and long term storage?

Edit: I'm speaking specifically of the 4-cycle TruFuel in the gray canister.

Look I get regular gas into those 5 gal red cans add nstabilizer as recommended, they sit in a large container outside and three years later it’s still good and everything runs well.

go online get the model number and look for the carburetor, replace it, they are not expensive.

I use the blue gas (ethanol free}, it does cost more than regular but you don't need any additives.

A friend had me drop off the power head of his combination weed whacker/pole saw/ hedge trimmer. My neighbor who repairs that kind of stuff had to clean the carburetor to get it to run even though the unit was practically new. Neighbor asked if TruFuel was used in it. Apparently it has something in it that gunks carbs up

I use locally available 91 octane alcohol free gas in all my power equipment and have zero problems.
It stores well and doesn't mess up fuel systems/carburetors.

Snake what aviator is saying just get a carburetor and slap that on and you will be good to go. Non ethanol gas a stabilizer of your choice and when your done running the engine shut off the gas line and let the machine run out of fuel. I read where gas looses octane value over storage time so I buy octane additive and hit the stored gas with a small amount every so often.
Try to start the equipment once a month or so or drain the old gas out and you should be good to go.

Add says the U.S. military uses this stuff so I gave it a go. So far works good no problems.

I always turn off the gas and let the carburetor run dry before putting it away.

So Snake I guess the Chickanic kind of answered your question about Trufuel. She has a friend who uses it who loves the stuff as per her video. Plus she know guys who hate the stuff. So its a hell I don't know answer??
She says put oil in for longer storage coating all the internals. I watched a vid. with a guy used transmission fluid to coat internals for storage. Experiment with different ideas see what works best for you.. Woman I spoke locally here with has a generator and starts it religiously every month without fail for the last several years and it runs and starts just fine.
Like Pogo says shut the fuel line off when done and run the carb dry.
