New work requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are set to go into effect on Feb. 1 and it could mean that millions of Americans lose their benefits.

Nearly 42 million Americans, including low-income families and vulnerable households, rely on the federal program to help pay for groceries or other household essentials.

However, under President Donald Trump's megabill that was signed into law in July, work requirements were amended for certain Americans to receive benefits for more than three months over three years, which is the time limit.

We used to hire a couple bus loads of what we called "rent-a-nigs" to help with a huge increase in production. Every day a new batch would show up and gimp off the bus acting like they were being forced to show up. This was an industrial HVAC manufacturing plant and these people would show up in nice leather jackets, long finger nails, gold chains...you get the picture. Just pathetic. None of them actually wanted to work at all.

Yep. I've seen it many times before. Expensive clothes. Fancy shoes. Long finger nails. Crazy braided hair. These aren't exactly "work" clothes. When you see these outfits, you can rest assured you will get zero work out of these people.

The Blacks I encountered in the US Army were mostly pretty decent. The civilian sector was wildly different. The most frustrating thing for me as a low/mid level salaried manager was having young Blacks as employees. Literally as soon as I turned my back, they'd stop working. When I attempted to fire or discipline the poor performers, upper management held me back because all the poor performers were Black. So on one side, I got my ass chewed by upper management for not getting things done while at the same time they refused to let me clean house.

I remember while I was in High school I had a part time job at a TV repair place, back in early '70 or '71 and I had to accompany the outdoor service guy to pickup a large console TV from a black family house, the house was falling apart, everything was a mess and dirty, about seven little nigglets running around half naked but yes a brand spanking new Cadillac parked in front of the house.

Unfortunately, that's common even today. People buy expensive vehicles yet live in absolute squalor.

In my Army days, the brigade commander had some discretionary money he could give away to soldiers in need. I think it was called "the emergency relief fund" or something similar. One young soldier had made a request for money through the chain of command. All subordinate commanders signed off on the request. When it reached the deputy brigade commander's desk, he asked the solder to report to his office.

The deputy commander greeted the soldier and said "Show me where you parked your car." They walked out to the parking lot. The soldier's car was expensive and outfitted with giant rims and all sorts of unnecessary hoodie bling. The deputy commander smiled and said "I think I found the source of your financial woes." Request denied.

The deputy commander was rightfully disappointed in his subordinates for not performing their due diligence in screening requests.

Some time back Flarda tried to drug test welfare recipients in order to validate their need to get free stuff and it ended up in court to which that effort was ended. The dregs almost always seem to win because of the bleeding heart liberals/assholes.

Was on SNAP and HEAP for about a year while I was having some health issues about 20 years ago.

Hated it and was really embarrassing, eventually got my issues mostly sorted and was able to start working again.

Turned my SNAP/EBT in and the social worker looked at me like I was crazy.

To get free food here you just pick up the phone dial the proper channels and your free food is on the way. Now their is people in need no doubt their. My income bracket no way would I be able to sign up even if I wanted to. The key is you just have to do one thing? LIE. The problem? Don't get caught or your life will take a bad turn.
This beer drinking pill popping thieving dush bag chick in town here just got nailed after years of getting about $400 a month in S.N.A.P. $$ She was collecting on her 3 kids who were grown up and moved out. Someone in the office finally checked. Whoops now her bank account got attached her SS checks cut in half and she will never be able to pay back all she owes.
She lied she got caught and I feel so bad for her.

ADD: Half the scum bags around here getting the stamps sell them for $.50 cents on the dollar to buy drugs.

Sanibel Island has it's own program, FISH of SANCAP, it's neighbors helping neighbors. There are a lot of older folks in the island who are long time residents and whose retirement income is low and have no place to go. Life there is very expensive so everybody chips in and those folks can get what they need for free.

That is pretty cool Fred. Yup that would be nice helping out for those people in need good because you would be able to see right where your donations are going.

They are OK, it's neighbors helping neighbors, I think over 70% of island residents are somewhat wealthy and I mean, $50-$100 a month doesn't break the bank. I just wish they'd drop real estate taxes a tad.
