Affirmative Action Quotas in Question as Female, Minority Pilots Caused Crashes

Daniel Huff, a former White House lawyer, noted in a recent analysis that the drive toward diversity and inclusion in the airline industry has put passengers at risk.

In an article for the New York Post, Huff wrote that President Donald Trump was right to rescind diversity efforts at the Federal Aviation Administration.

That’s because female and minority pilots — many of whom entered the industry amid a drive toward diversity among pilots — were responsible for half of pilot-error crashes.

I've known some really good female pilots and a couple good black pilots who were from the islands not the US. Also had a friend (redneck) who used to fly for PanAm and would make a quick stop at my business to finish his drink before showing up for simulator re-currency training. Another guy who flew for the agency when I was doing their avionic stuff he would arrive smelling like 100 proof alcohol and complaining he couldn't see the radar...every time he flew, there was nothing wrong with the radar.

Fred the color of the skin here is totally irrelevant. Black White brown orange its the fact their putting people in who have NO zero business even being in the cockpit of an airplane. Like someone from Delta lets say looks and sees their is a low count on Irishman flying for them. Well hell they better start looking for someone with an Irish decent last name and get them up front steering the ship. WTF are they even closely qualified? Company X don't care they want to meet their quota of Mics.
You have a big close family do you want to put your grandkids in that big bird with a substandard unqualified pilot of ANY race? I want the best pilot I don't give a damn what color they are. The article is telling us they the companies don't want the best their checking colors and sex not abilities.

I've got news for you, there is a large shortage of pilots out there, they are taking kids with very little fight time, just enough to get them through their ATP certificate and putting them in the cockpit. It used to be you needed a college degree, I don't think it applies anymore, I'm not sure, but as long as you learn how to push the right buttons and communicate with the tower you are good to go. To be honest with you, you only need a pilot to do a preflight check and landing or in case of emergency for the most part. Pilots get a briefing before departure and the flight is already programmed gate to gate. (pretty much) and companies are looking for cheap starting pilots who are eager to fly. Look at DennisH grandson, a commercial pilot at age 21, has spent alll his flight time in a single engine Cessna or equivalent, maybe has a multi engine, he'll go get a high altitude endorsement, a turbo engine training and poof he get's into a big jet taking people up and down as a copilot, the rest of the training is up to the Pilot in command, who up until a couple years ago was doing the same thing.

          Thank God for computers.
