Top counterterrorism official Kent resigns over Trump's Iran war . . .

Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation on Tuesday, citing his concerns about the justification for military strikes in Iran and saying he “cannot in good conscience” back the Trump administration’s war.

“Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” Kent said in a statement posted on social media, making claims President Donald Trump has denied.

Maybe Kent's bank account should be checked for a large $$ deposit.

"No imminent threat" today, how about after they get their nuclear ducks in a row? Better safe than sorry, it's not like they have been saints for 47 years.

I remember watching the news and seeing Americans taken hostage by Iran. Yellow ribbons tied around trees, the nightly counter of how many days it’s been going on.

I haven’t been worried about bombing Iran. I’ve been wondering what the fuck was taking so long? They’ve been asking for it, and we finally have somebody willing to deliver.

No imminent threat! Is this asshole kidding! Maybe spec ops causes brain damage or he has been bought off but here is a summary of Iranian attacks on the US since 1979:

          Key Aggregates:
          • 2003–2011: Iranian-backed militias in Iraq killed at least 603 US troops (roughly 1 in 6 US combat deaths; via EFPs, IEDs, and direct attacks).
          • Oct 2023–Nov 2024: Iran and proxies conducted >180 attacks on US forces in the Middle East, wounding >180 US service members and killing 3.
          • Oct 2023–Feb 2024 alone: >160–170 proxy attacks on US bases in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan.
1979–1989: Hostage Crisis, Beirut Bombings, and Early Hezbollah/Islamic Jihad Attacks
          • Nov 1979–Jan 1981: Iranian regime-backed students seized the US Embassy in Tehran, holding 66 Americans hostage for 444 days.
          • Apr 1983: Iran-backed Islamic Jihad (Hezbollah precursor) suicide car bombing at US Embassy in Beirut killed 17 Americans (63 total dead).
          • Oct 1983: Iran-backed Hezbollah truck bombing of US Marine barracks in Beirut killed 241 US service members(220 Marines + 21 others).
          • Sep 1984: Iran-backed Hezbollah car bombing at US Embassy annex in Beirut killed 2 American service members (23 total dead).
          • Dec 1983: Iran-backed Hezbollah truck bombing at US Embassy in Kuwait City (no American deaths).
          • Mar 1984–Jun 1985: Iran-backed Islamic Jihad kidnapped and murdered CIA Station Chief William Buckley in Beirut.
          • Dec 1984: Iran-backed Hezbollah hijacked Kuwait Airways Flight 221 (diverted to Tehran), killing 2 American officials.
          • Jun 1985: Iran-backed Hezbollah hijacked TWA Flight 847, murdering a US Navy diver.
          • Jul 1989: Iran-backed Hezbollah murdered kidnapped US Marine Col. William Higgins in Lebanon.
1990s: Khobar Towers and Related Attacks
          • Jun 1996: Iran-backed Hezbollah Al-Hijaz truck bombing of Khobar Towers (US Air Force housing, Saudi Arabia) killed 19 Americans and wounded ~500.

(Iran-backed groups like Hamas/Palestinian Islamic Jihad also killed or wounded dozens of Americans in Israel/West Bank attacks throughout the 1990s, e.g., bus bombings killing 1–5 Americans each in 1995–1997 and 2001–2003.) 2000s–2010s: Iraq War Proxy Campaign + Isolated Strikes
          • 2003–2011: Iranian-backed Shia militias (e.g., Kataib Hezbollah, Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq) conducted sustained attacks in Iraq, killing ≥603 US troops via EFPs/IEDs and other means.
          • Jan 2007: IRGC Quds Force operatives (disguised as US soldiers) killed 5 US troops in Karbala, Iraq.
2019–2020: Direct Iranian Actions + Proxy Escalation
          • 2019: Iran attacked or was blamed for multiple oil tankers in the Gulf; downed a US RQ-4 Global Hawk drone over the Strait of Hormuz.
          • Dec 2019: Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah rocket attack on K-1 Air Base (Kirkuk, Iraq) killed 1 US contractor and wounded US/Iraqi personnel.
          • Jan 2020 (Operation Martyr Soleimani): Direct Iranian ballistic missile strikes on Al Asad Air Base (and Erbil) in Iraq in retaliation for the US killing of Qasem Soleimani; >100 US troops suffered traumatic brain injuries (no deaths).
          2021–2023: Sporadic Proxy Attacks
          • Multiple rocket/drone strikes by Iran-backed militias on US bases in Iraq/Syria (e.g., Jul 2021: wounded 2 US troops; Dec 2023: wounded 3 at Erbil).
          • Mar 2023: Iranian drone strike on US coalition base near Hasakah, Syria, killed 1 American contractor and wounded 5 US troops.
          2023–2024: Post-Oct 7 “Axis of Resistance” Campaign (Iraq/Syria/Jordan Proxies + Houthis)

Iraq/Syria/Jordan (Islamic Resistance in Iraq umbrella, Kataib Hezbollah, etc.):
          • 160–180+ rocket, missile, and drone attacks on US bases (e.g., Al Asad, Al Tanf, Conoco, Tower 22 in Jordan).
          • Notable deadly: Jan 28, 2024 — Kataib Hezbollah drone strike on Tower 22 (Jordan) killed 3 US soldiers and wounded >40.
          • Many others caused injuries (dozens of US troops); US retaliated with airstrikes.

Red Sea/Gulf of Aden (Iran-backed Houthis):
          • Began Nov 2023 in solidarity with Gaza; targeted US/UK/Israel-linked commercial shipping and warships (dozens–hundreds of attacks via drones, missiles, boats).
          • Examples: Nov 2023 missile attacks toward USS Mason; Jan 2024 mass barrage (21+ drones/missiles) at US destroyers (USS Eisenhower, Gravely, Laboon, etc.—mostly intercepted); repeated claims/attempts on US carriers and destroyers (many denied or intercepted by US/coalition). Commercial ships with US ties hit or seized (e.g., Galaxy Leader hijacking). US/UK conducted retaliatory strikes (Operation Poseidon Archer). Campaign paused/restarted multiple times into 2025.
2025–2026: Direct Iranian Retaliation + Proxy Resumption
          • Jun 2025: Direct Iranian ballistic missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base (Qatar, US Central Command forward base) in response to US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites (intercepted by Qatari defenses; no casualties reported).
          • Jun 2025 onward: Iran-backed militias resumed attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria (e.g., missiles/drones on multiple sites; first since late 2024 pause).

Additional Context on Plots (Not Executed Attacks): Iran/IRGC have been linked to foiled assassination plots on US soil or against US officials (e.g., 2011 Saudi ambassador plot; 2020s plots against officials, journalists, or politicians including charges related to President Trump). These are separate from kinetic attacks.

This pattern reflects Iran's strategy of using proxies for deniability while occasionally striking directly when thresholds are crossed (e.g., Soleimani killing or nuclear strikes). US responses have included sanctions, airstrikes on proxies, and direct action when needed. Data is current as of early 2026; lower-level incidents continue sporadically. For the absolute latest or hyper-specific incidents, official DoD/Pentagon releases remain the primary source.

I think he suffers from PTSD after a raghead blew his wife up, she was a translator. Not everyone reacts the same, I'd love to get even. At any rate if that is his disposition the president is better off without him.

Agreed. The guy was supposed to be some sort of high-speed anti-terrorist guru and he called Iran (the #1 terrorist country in the world) "no threat". He definitely needed to go. Now he's doing his best to undermine the administration.

The asswipe should be run down by a hit and run driver, slip and fall in the shower, breaking his neck or commit suicide by shooting himself 3-4 times in the back of the head.....as MANY ....former associates of the klintonestas have suffered.

Iran has won the toss, they have elected to receive. Joe Kent is irrelevant and has changed nothing.
