I have gained quite a few lbs since my heart surgery and that's no good, yeah at 6'4" I can take the weight but it's hurting me. it hurts my knees, my back, I'm fighting it. My son the one who had that bad back surgery and had to learn how to walk again is taking some shots and has lost a lot of weight, to the point he is Barcelona Spain now and climbed the 360 steps to that never ending cathedral there.
I guess it's diet or die

my doctor ordered a battery of tests on me last year so I logged into the lab and got them before he did, ran them through AI and it told me everything including what I had to take. So I went to see him and told him, I got my results, this is what I need, I already ran them on AI..The guy turned to me and said "Shit, I can't even be a doctor anymore". He's a nice guy, we get along well.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

Just an update:
So far I'm down 12 lbs from 248 in March to 236 today. I've been checking my weight every Saturday morning. It's slow progress, but it's in the right direction. I gained 3 pounds the week my son got married, but I kind of expected that. I wasn't going to try and get through that week on salad.
Been having salad for lunch 4 or 5 times a week. Also been trying to ride my bike to work once a week. Other than that, just avoiding the snacks and candy.Comment

I buy sparkling water like Pellegrino or the Kirkland and mix 50/50 with crystal light. Not perfect but way better than soda. There is a brand of soda called Zevia that is sweetened with stevia. Its good but costly.Comment

There is only one way to lose weight, burn more calories than you take in. period. The shots will curb your appetite and you won't feel like eating, that's why they work. but if you get off them and continuing eating like before you go back, but it does work, my son has lost a lot of weight.
I cut cabs and sweets out completely, red meat once a week, lots of fish and salads, black coffee., no sodas, no beer no alcoholic drinks.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

In the last 18 months I have shed 125 pounds. I have been shooting insulin since 2000. I'm the only diabetic in my family. Agent Orange. My insulin dosage is waaaay down.
not having all that ass to carry around is a big help. Fuck Metformen. Fuck Simvastatin. Fuck that neuropathy pain med gabboxxxx? Fuck blood pressure meds. Dont need any of them. Mr. Arthritis is here to stay....unfortunately. My moonwalking days are also over. I weighed 145 pounds when I PCS'd the RVN.... 165 pounds as a football linebacker in HS.... I was pretty fast in pads. Now I'm a geezer...👍 1Comment

My wife has been drinking that flavored Pelegrino for a few years now, along with the regular Pelegrino we both like. As far as losing weight I'm still doing the Mediterranean thing I started almost 5 years ago. Went from 240 down to 210 and am keeping it pretty steady there. 6'1 so I think that's a good weight for my frame.Comment

Club soda alone or with a little 100% fruit juice mixed in. Club soda alone is an acquired taste for sure, but it's good for killing heartburn, at least in my case.
If you are just craving the fizz, there are a bunch of fizzy waters on the shelf now that have zero calories in them. Some taste better than others. My favorite brands are Polar and Waterloo - they don't have that weird aftertaste other brands have. The Liquid Death, or whatever they are called, are good too, but hella expensive just for fizzy water.
I'm not really overweight much, but I suspect I'm going to see a diet change starting next week when I see a heart doctor about this abdominal aortic aneurysm I recently found out that I apparently have.👍 1Comment

Peptides are absolutely life changing. From weight loss to healing to brain cognitive function to skin rejuvenation and gut health and making Willy salute again. They are cheap and will get you out from under a bunch of prescriptions that are killing you instead of making you better. Since they are natural, they cannot be patented by big pharma. No patent, no insane profits. A patient cured is a customer lost.
"But there are no human trials!" Of course there aren't, why would a company invest millions in a trial for something they cannot profit from?
"But losing weight with a poke is cheating!" So what? I'm in it to win it. If I have to "cheat" an early death by using a tool to control appetite while developing a healthy lifestyle, I'll gladly "cheat".
All I know is that I started my wife on a blend of healing peptides that work on tendons and cartilage because she has a severe connective tissue disorder, and in only two weeks in she is walking without a cane. Doctors were telling her to mentally prepare to be in a wheelchair. Her chiropractor noticed a change in her, especially when she walked into his office without the cane.
I wish I'd learned about them earlier. My mom might still be alive if I had. It was one member on here who posted about his experience using them that sent me down the rabbit hole of research and into the gray/black market that the government does not want citizens exploring, and for that I'm truly thankful. So far, I have not found anything that will touch tinnitus, but I'm looking!Last edited by Sanders; 07-22-2026, 07:36 AM.Comment

People are weird about the whole Ozempic and other peptides thing.
"Hey, I was addicted to heroine, but the doctors gave me a medicine that suppressed the urge and now I'm healthy!"
- Good for you!

Hey, go get it taken care of. Jim (DorGunR) had one ruptured and it almost killed him. Pneumonia got him at the end.

When you do a deep dive into these things, you find they have been around for a very long time - just not in this country. The main ingredients of Ozempic have been used for diabetes for over 30 years, for example. Other peptides have been in use in Russia and Europe for 40-50 years. These things did not just appear when someone on TicTok or Youtube made a video about them.People are weird about the whole Ozempic and other peptides thing.
