    Today's Technology,

This is nuts, forget Dick Tracy's watch, or Star Trek communicator, technology has advanced so much in the last 25 years, since I left the field that it makes my head spin. Just got a video (face to face) call from my son while I was driving my car down by US-1, yeah but he is in Seville Spain and had a question for me. Holy Molly. I get calls from our friend down under once in a while, it's like talking to my neighbor across the street. I remember the days that you needed to call the international operator and wait a while for a lousy, noisy call to get through and pay a pretty penny, no operators, no charges, superb quality voice and video over i.p. Same with TV signals, I get to watch international TV, Italy, Spain like local station.

I wonder what the next 25 years will bring. Send me a text in care of St Peter, I want to know.

Speaking of international phone calls, when Kay's brother was in the Army we told him to call us collect when he got the urge. So we got calls from Germany and Korea or wherever he was stationed. One phone bill was over $600 one month. He was worth it though. When I was in Nam I got to make a MARS call one time to home and no one answered, that sucked.

As far technology I can see me owning a humanoid robot to do my yard work. Maybe even to be my chauffeur.

When my kid was in Bahrain, we'd talk on video over the Signal app (the only encrypted app the Navy approved over there) for free over WiFi.

Whats-app, Facebook, they all allow you to make phone and video calls, no charge.

RTO, I got the next best thing....I hired people, I'm done with yard work, I get short of breath and can't do what I used to do before. Here it's $60 every two weeks but he keeps everything the way I want it, I don't have to tell him what to do anymore, he also does my son's yard. Sanibel it's $180 a month but they go every week and keep the place neat, mind you , about 20 coconut trees and I don't know how many Areca Palms plus whatever grows wild back there by the river that I can't cut but leaves and branches fall off. They spray weed killer on the gravel driveway and walkway and keep the hole place in top shape.

You have some good deals. My wife was after me the other day about me weed eating and mowing the property saying that I should hire someone to do it. I asked her what was I supposed to do then watch them? I am still able to work around here even though I have umbilical hernia. One of my Docs told me last visit that I am a young 76 year old, so when he tells me to stop then I will.

Remember the days of collect calls? And here's something you probably never thought of. Before cell phones, when you called someone you never asked "Where are you?" like you do today.

The Sanibel guy has been doing that house since it was built in '92,. I guess his dad started the business, so I kept them on, it's on a double lot but home copy.jpg the river takes a chunk, land extends to the other side but it's a wildlife protected area and gators keep guard so no one goes there. I think $180 a month for everything they do is a great deal, I checked around and everybody who works in the island wants over $200 for twice a month. All I do now is plant new trees and stuff keeping a folding chair nearby so I can sit down.

Most of this tech is now almost 20 years old. The real game changer is AI. Ignore all the click bait doomers, it is already making business far more productive and efficient. It will also eliminate useless jobs and unnecessary redundancy.

The next leap, which we will all live to see, as it is already a reality and increasing at an exponential level, is quantum computing. This is some scary stuff. It will be able to do predictive analysis, analyzing all possible outcomes in a few seconds. It will be a super mind. If the simulation hypothesis is true, and it looks like it might be, it might even be able to hack reality itself. We are less than 10 years away from this.

The less spooky outcome will be massive cost savings to small business. Super efficient supply chain management, prediction of natural disasters, medical breakthroughs at breathtaking levels, ect. However, if weaponized, it will be more dangerous than a nuclear weapon. It might even make war impossible. AI is already being used in the current war in Iran. Think of drone swarms that can predict the enemies moves before they happen then strike a target or change the target at will.

              Adapt or die.

yes sir, right you are. My oldest son has been a major force behind AI at the school system. He's created curriculum to prepare teachers and at least two school of choice are offering basic coding to interested students, meanwhile my wife just opened up a major AI department at the college. But my son is a big guy, he is in the state advisory board on AI.

I heard that they are signing $300 mil contracts with AI coders and they do not care what your background is, how much education you have or how old you are. If you know AI you are in. It will be the largest transfer of wealth in US history and will drive the economy away from its service centered focus. I expect the big money future to be robotics, AI, and all types of skilled labor. Gone are the days of the bachelors degree in business and a white collar job in a cubical doing TPS reports. You can also kiss most medicine, law, accounting, computer programming, tech writing, secretarial support staff, logistics, financial analyst good by. The future will belong to the welder, farmer, pipe fitter, mechanic ect. I am all for it, especially if it drives a stake in the heart of grifting judicial extortion and Morgan and Morgan style law-fare.

edited to add: Another booming area is nuclear technician. There will be a proliferation of micro reactors and it is already here.

I've mentioned before how I ran my lab tests results on AI before I went to see my doctor and the guy got pissed "I can't be a doctor anymore".

My son had AI combined the code for two pieces of software they use on the countywide school system, something the IT folks had been working on for months, AI had it done in a couple hours. He works closely with Google, as a matter of facts Google offered him a job but he's not abandoning the benefits he has collected and a state retirement.

I see this morning that X is offering "Grok Voice" to answer phone calls for whatever setting you are in, or customize your own. I'm thinking I want something that will answer scam calls and keep them on the line a long as possible. It would be worth the $3/hr charge.

You should have heard the conversation I had with Alexa yesterday, holy crap, it freaked me out, I asked it to add some figures for me as I was reading them off the computer and I mentioned what I pay for lawn maintenance in Sanibel, it picked it up from there, it told me the price is not bad for Sanibel Island and that I did well, that way the place is clean and neat and all I have to do is go there and enjoy the beache and the island and it just kept going on and we had a conversation for like five. six minutes. That shit listens to you and gathers information all the time. The more you say the more it knows, it learns. Scary

My kid has an Alexa. I told it to set an alarm for 2:00 a.m. to play spooky haunted house noises. I guess it worked, but she didn't wake up.

Listen to 44044s post weed eat once or twice a year and NO more trimming grass around the edges of your yard. Sell your weed wacker.

                            - Gal. 30% vintager. I got it 2 gals. off Amazon.
                            -1/2 cup of salt.
-1/4 cup or so of Dawn liquid soap.
-Pump sprayer. I got mine on Amazon that can take bleach for the rubber seals so for sure it will work with vinagar.

Mix gal. of vinagar with about 1/2 gal. of water more or less experiment. Dilute salt in water and add in. Little splash of Dawn soap it helps it stick to whatever your want gone. Best now to spray on a warm sunny day. So wherever you would weed eat just spray instead. It kills from direct contact and leaves your soil still good to grow something a bit some time later if you desire.
May need a touch up but no more damn weed whacking.
