Guess what I just bought? One of those 144 and 440 mhz Chinese Baofeng radios. At $17.00... I couldn't pass it up. I've been off the air for about 47 years since I bought my first house, then kids came, and bought this house, stuff sat in a shed until Hurricane Andrew hit back in 92 and I threw everything away, except a 2m rig I gave a cousin who had just gotten his technician license. That little thing works very well, I can access a few repeaters from my house. I figure it will be handy during a hurricane, the County Emergency Center is very close to me. I've kept my license all this time.
