I completely understand. In retirement, there are two compelling forces that guide my life.
Force #1: I need to still feel indispensable to an organization larger than just me. I volunteer for a local youth group as well as my county sheriff department. Both would seemingly cease to exist without my help. I need that.
Force #2: I need to completely disengage from the world. I'll take a solo trip to my off-grid cabin or a backpacking trip in the wilderness. In both cases, time stands still. I'm entirely consumed with mundane survival tasks: shelter, water, fire, etc... A beautiful experience.
