Saw the news this morning that horse thieves stole a family's horses and took them down the road a little way and slaughtered and butchered them in Miami-Dade County in Florida.
Horse meat is eaten in Spain and Italy, Most Cubans are descendants of Spanish people by two or three generations only. Both my wife's grandparents were from Spain.

Miami some years ago. I was in the Miami V.A. next to Jackson Memorial Hosp. for a veterans group inpatient rehab for war related problems. Nam, Black Hawk Down, Gulf vets we had quite a Dirty Dozen motley crew. Gulf vets were our strong arm damn those younguns were in shape.
Evenings we would walk through the hood to a Cuban coffee shop and I really think I was the only one not packing a BIG iron the ghetto apes gave us a wide path. So one of our Cuban Nam vets say when we go tonight you have to see this cute little manatee. Cool lot of the guys never saw one. It must have got separated from its mother and came out of the nearby river and was in some shallow water on on our way to the coffee shop. Vet walking point says oh their it was.
'Their it was' he was not kidden. Holy sheeet it was just a freaking skeleton. Our Cuban vet says yup they were hungry. I guess in Cuba their on the menu? Well we held science class for a few and it was off to the coffee shop.

Manatees we have all over the place, just like gators down here, my daughter's best friend lives in a house that backs up to a canal that connects to the main C7 I think it is that goes all the way to the bay, they get manatees on their backyard, 6 foot iguanas are normal there, her grandfather used to kill them, they were always eating his avocados. We have all sort of fancy critters around. Some Komodo dragons have been turned loose and they are all over too, they have been spotted at the island. Just the other day we were leaving and my daughter called, "Coyotes by the old Bailey's store", we also have them here now, also some of the prettiest foxes I've seen out in plain daylight chasing rats, it's a freaking zoo, God forbid you go east, then you run into the un-caged monkey farm and they shoot guns too.
