Those big ticket properties are selling fast, I guess many people from Blue States with a lot of money are coming down. Little do they know in case of hurricane they need to evacuate and repairs will be major, even if they pay over $30K a year in insurance they will have a tough time getting their money. But they'll get to enjoy it for a few years.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

hahaha....when my son was starting his business he did a few houses there and he showed me pictures, one had a pool table on a hanging floor above the family room, some crazy shit like that. Some rich well known black artist was building it. You havent seen the mansions on the private islands on the bay, holy crap, my mother's cousin was a caretaker on one so they told us to go see it once, they had a separate 2/2 apartment away from the main building, on the dining room was a very large raggedy old painting of the Last Supper, about 500 years old, they paid over a million for it. seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, two kitchens wine cellar, marble deck on the back leading to the dock, all marble inside, it was sickening. And it was just a young couple with two kids. They inherited the fortune and business.Fred that really is nice thank you for letting us know about that great deal. Just reading about Sam Waltons wife if I got that name right from Wally World. He left her they estimate $100 BILLION in his will. Real nice woman said no one person could spend that much money in a lifetime.
She started a local medical college with free first year tuition for smart students who could not afford schooling. She built a huge art studio in her home town with a small population. Mega million $$ paintings and they said she was nuts. She said why should just the big cities get to see these paintings?
She soon passed one million visitors. Quite a woman. Oh she gave control of Wally World to her entire family she wanted nothing to do with it. I guess 100 billion $$ inheritance is enough?

If I had that kind of money I would not spend it on such a ridiculous house. I would rather float around and live all over the place. Maybe buy a decked out Prevost and spend a few months here and there and pull up stakes and move on. Or I would live on piece of property the size of a small county with a 5000 ft grass runway and a modest hanger home.Comment

Your wish is my command. On FD38 (brother lives there) right on a taxiway with a 5,000 foot paved runway, pilot controlled lights and VASI.If I had that kind of money I would not spend it on such a ridiculous house. He is not rich, just bought at the right time, paid about $80K for the lot and built for about $150K when the neighborhood was starting up, he now sits on a few Million Dollars. I remember flying there when they had a grass strip and helping him out with the foundations.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

Fred I had the same thing happen as your brother did. Bought here 25 yrs. ago for around $50,000 now home and lot next door to me going for $350 to over $400 hundred grand. Then me in my little swamp shack which I keep clean and neat.
But insurance for them? You need how much? Nope so sorry we will give you $100 grand that's it take it or leave it. They have no choice period so they suck up the rest if a storm hits.
The Villages complex just west of me? Its folding up why? Insurance their just walking out of their homes it went from one of the largest developments in America to serious serious problems.
