What is the hottest weather you will go to the range in?

I inherited these great rifles I mentioned a couple months back, and I’ve been slowly getting them cleaned up to take them out with my son.

Problem is I might have taken too long. Not sure how enjoyable shooting these in near 100 degrees heat is going to be.

I also doubt shooting 303 British or 7.62x54mmr will get many friends at the indoor range.

When I lived in Tucson, I didn't care what the temps were like when I went out shooting in the desert. Once, I had bought a primo (as in unfired) Yugo M24 Mauser at a gun show for $140. Took it out to shoot before cleaning it up, besides running a patch down the barrel. Even though it was early morning, temps were nearing 100 and the cosmoline was just pouring out of the rifle stock. I put a box of shells through it, then wrapped it up in an old sheet instead of putting it back in the case.

But, it was a dry heat!

Around here the humidity & heat are enough that drinking beer at the marina only resulted in two beers.
The neighbors range is all sun. Shooting wouldn’t go past 9:00am

My outdoor range has concrete baffles over the shooting benches so it's in the shade until you walk the 50-100 yards out to the targets. It's in the mid-90's here right now and very humid. I actually love hot weather, have since I was a kid.
NOW...winter is a whole different matter. I hate freezing my 71-year old butt off in that stuff. I prefer to sit in the living room in front of the fire with the old lady and drink hot beverages.

I got one of those portable shade canopies to take out shooting with me from Harbor Freight. Makes a world of difference on those hot, sunny days.

We talked about a canopy or possibly an actual shade cover. His berm need to be high still.

My shooting range is on my personal property & the trees above it keep the sun off you directly. That said, the trees increase the humidity level & give the mosquitoes/ticks/gnats/ & the horse flies a place to hide till a human shows up with free lunches for all.

Dryer weather reduces the bugs & the humidity, but winter & spring are the best times to shoot. Sweat makes my guns rust faster than corrosive ammo if they are not cleaned immediately after a shooting session externally.

After I had a heat related incident a few years ago anything about 80ish degrees is really rough on me.

Before it didn’t bother me near as much.
