Well yes folks, we got up early, had the golf cart all ready to go with red, white and blue things hanging and sticking out of every orifice and we headed to the parade starting point. We were given a parking space corresponding to our number and waited while the place was getting filled up with people, made a few friends, petted a few dogs, meanwhile I'm looking at the sky and it's getting darker by the minute so I pull my phone to look at the weather and holy cow, big storm heading our way. Sure enough, rain came down in buckets, so one of the people in charge said "Go ahead and take cover at Doc Ford restaurant, we drove out there, by this time we're drenched and lightning starts, we all sat on the tables outside the restaurant and waited, waited, waited, lightning stopped, I heard sirens, I tell my crew "Let's go, we're going to be late" drive back to the parking lot...no one there, I tell my son, go and take Periwinkle Rd east...and we played loud patriotic music from the sound bar....and off we went into the wild blue yonder...where the hell is every body?, not a float, not a golf cart, lots of chairs abandoned b y the flooded side of the road, people under whatever shelter they found waiving at us and taking pictures , got to the end of the road made a U-Turn and did the same all the way back until we got home, made a lot of folks smile, wave and take pictures of us.....get home, wife looks at her cell: "Parade cancelled by fire marshal due to lightning storm".
