3am last night they were still celebrating on Madrid's main plaza bells. whistles, horns and everything. Today there are probably 100K people congregated at the main road Alcala street in downtown Madrid going crazy. They take soccer really seriously. It's 9 pm there now
Spain is going wild

They'll throw a party for every saint and virgin and stop work, eat drink and have fun whenever possible. My son got stuck there on Holy Week and said it was crazy. He was carried by the mass of people, next he knew he was inside a church and everybody was wearing a suit and tie and here is this gringo guy in jeans and a polo shirt. His Spanish ain't great but he can communicate.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

I took my wife and youngest daughter to the airport this morning for a flight to Spain to meet up with my UF teacher daughter that is already over there with some of her students. My teacher daughter went there last summer to do a recon for this year's trip. My granddaughter is with her so they should have a good time together. My wife has been planning this trip for a year and has been studying Spanish for a year with a friend from the gym who is from Spain.
I decided not to go, I'm too beat up. I'm happy here with my dog and granddog and plenty of projects to finish.Comment

Well...food is good, wine is good. They don't really like Americans but like any other country if you try to communicate in their language even if it's just a few words they'll treat you right. My son was in the South of Spain a few months ago and said he was treated like shit there, He may have to go back a few times, work related stuff.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.Comment

Start work at 10:00 lunch at 12:00 back to work at 13:00 then off to the bar by 17:00 the latest for Tapas. Retvet sorry you had a bad experience but I loved the people and the country. I was in Europe and hooked up with my neighbor where she was attending classes at a university in Barcelona. Played some 'Football' with the locals then they taught me how to do Tapas bar hopping.

Tried to eat meat at one bar and it was tougher than cast iron. It was bull meat from the local bull fight. I spit it out. Fred I can communicate in Spanglish just enough to know when its time to exit a bar over their. "Mata al Gringo"

Tapas are small, flavorful Spanish appetizers or snacks designed to be shared. Served hot or cold, they range from simple olives to complex seafood. Eating tapas is a vibrant social custom: friends hop from bar to bar, standing at counters while enjoying these small bites with drinks. [1, 2, 3, 4]
