Back in my Army days, I was assigned to a USAR unit in Chicago. I would commute from Michigan and stay overnight in a hotel. Given Illinois' gun laws, and federal laws on bases, I always traveled unarmed.

In the two years or so I was assigned to that unit, I came close to getting mugged and a Black-on-Black gunfight. It's almost like the hoodies KNEW you weren't armed.
