    leaving tomorrow morning

Things to do, places to go, beaches to see beers to drink. I want to go visit Matlacha, which is not far from Sanibel and I understand has not recovered well from the 2022 hurricane, property is cheap there, just to look around. will be back late Friday.

Back to MIA. Wife has to be in charge of the college tomorrow, had a great time just her and I and an empty beach, the island is off-season, very few people there. Had it out with my landscaper, and told them do the shit right or you are being replaced, I don't want to see dead plants or weed on my gravel driveway, I pay you to keep it clean. Also I'm extremely short of breath and it doesn't look good, Maybe one of the meds, maybe my heart, maybe I'm just too messed up. Who cares, had a bottle of wine and kept going. Got caught in a couple of thunderstorms while driving home in the golfcart, that was fun. Found a tiny restaurant out in a small island north of us named Matlacha Island, fishermen were unloading their catch right from the boat, the best fish I ever had, the place was good, it was also packed so it was well known I guess. Drive there was too long though. We had a nice relaxation time.

Despite health problems, you're still getting out there and doing the things you love and trying new things. Sounds like you've got it all figured out.

Kinda reminds me of my 78-year old neighbor. He has health issues a mile long but goes fishing all the time. He invited me to go out with him yesterday. The dude has a sixth sense about fishing. We used the same bait, same rigs, but he ended up catching about 75% of the fish. Happens every time we go. Old man strength. It's a real thing!

Fishing, there are some pretty big fish behind my house, you can see them jumping, there are also salt water crocks and rattle snakes around the back.....a five foot iguana than walks along every day and lately noseeums and Florida mosquitoes galore. Sunrise to sundown is fine. It's Summer time, everybody is out. Go to the beach and watch dolphins hunt, copulate and do what dolphins do, they don't care about people.

You know if you ever want to just hang out in Miami and not worry about the old island home, my boy Benjamin and I will be more than happy to come house sit for a few weeks at a time. Free of charge of course. We'll keep your landscapers in line too. Also Ben loves chasing Anoles, and I can just imagine him with an Iguana.

Similar situation here but more of a Northern Michigan version. There's a small pond and a creek running behind our house. The water is clear and cold. In the Fall and Spring, migrating salmon run up the creek to spawn. The one thing we have in common with Florida are the mosquitoes. The weather is absolutely beautiful now, but we'll be singing the blues come winter.
